From CAD to Costing: What’s New in Smart Cut Quote
Faster quoting, built-in drawing tools, clearer cost breakdowns and more automation features

Create Drawings Instantly with Smart CAD
Smart Cut Quote now includes Smart CAD, a built-in 2D drawing tool that allows you to sketch and dimension simple shapes directly within the quoting system. When a customer does not send a DXF file, you can still prepare a complete quote by creating the part geometry manually. This speeds up your response time and eliminates the need to switch between different software. It’s especially helpful for creating standard brackets, plates, and other repeat parts quickly.

Detailed Cost Breakdown in the Summary Page
The Summary Page has been redesigned to give a clearer overview of all cost components. You can now see individual figures for material, cutting, and any added processes. This breakdown makes it easier to explain your pricing to customers and gives you confidence that all elements of the job have been included. The layout has been improved for readability and consistency.

Automatic Part Labels After Approval
Once a quote is approved, Smart Cut Quote now generates labels for each part in the job. These labels help your team stay organized and reduce errors in production. The labels include key part information and are ready to be printed or passed along to the shop floor without extra manual work.

Improved Support for 3D STEP Files
The 3D STEP import feature is now more tightly integrated. You can now apply material properties directly from your Smart Quote database when importing sheet metal parts. This avoids duplicate entry and ensures consistency between 2D and 3D quoting workflows.

What’s Coming Next
We’re currently working on a more advanced 2D Editor, which will include useful tools such as rotate, trim, extend, scale, and more. These functions will make it easier to adjust or clean up geometry before quoting, especially when working with imported or manually created drawings. In addition, you’ll soon be able to import PDF files directly into the system, making it easier to quote from customer drawings even when CAD files are not available.
We’re also adding support to quote for extra operations like bending, drilling, and tapping directly within the software. These features will allow you to include additional processes in your quote with greater accuracy and less manual entry, giving you more flexibility when quoting complex sheet metal parts — all without leaving Smart Cut Quote.
